New Delhi, September 01 2014: Delhi Police has inducted another ten North East representatives for Delhi Police on August 31 by Special Commissioner of Police for Law and Order Deepak Mishra, IPS, at a Ceremony in the presence of Special CP Crime Taj Hassan, IPS Joint Cps Ranges, Dr Vivek Gogia, IPS, Sanjay Beniwal, IPS, Tejendra Luthra IPS, Rs Krishnia, IPS, Sandeep Goyal, IPS, Robin Hibu, IPS, Dr Milo Tabin, Adl Professor (AIIMS), Dharmesh Sharma ASJ, GK Gaur, Deputy Labour Commisioner, Varsha Sharma, DCP CAW.

Representatives of NE NGOs, women activists, student leaders, pastors, DPNE members and media persons were present on the occasin.

Deepak Mishra congratulated them and asked them to be true ambassador of NE people at Delhi.

A one day training on their role have been organized on labour laws, rent laws, social welfare measures at Delhi, police public relation, Initiatives for NE people at Delhi.

As of now Delhi Police have total 44 North East representatives.

The newly inducted NE representatives included Ms.Mina Toko (Arunachal Pradesh), Ms.Sunny Tayeng (Arunachal Pradesh), Mr.Obang Ngupok (Arunachal Pradesh), Mr.L Witamsinbou Abonmai (Manipur), Mr.James Sanate (Manipur), Mr.Rajkumar Mixn (Manipur), Mr.Ningombam Raju Singh (Manipur), Mr.Herangia (Nagaland), Mr.Chumbemo M.Patton (Nagaland), Mr.Nerswn Gayary (Assam) and Mr.Lobsang Tamang (Darjeeling). On the other hand, fifty fittest lady constables from Delhi Police after a grilling test on mental, physical, alertness and aptitude examinations have been finally selected to undergo a year-long rigorous self defence karate training by an expert team.

After a successful year-long training on karate, they will will be deployed in plain cloths at crime prone areas where crime against women and girls are very high at different parts of Delhi like Kotla Mubarak, Munirka, Mukherjee Nagar, south campus, Gandhi Vihar, Lajpat nagar, university metro stations, Malviya Nagar, Sunlight colony, Mahipalpur as well as inside DTC buses where women and girls travel maximum.

Apart from tackling eve teasers, molesters, road Romeos, they will also be trainers for self defence training for girls and women of Delhi at schools, colleges, institutions, hotels, hospitality sectors, etc.

Delhi police is also developing specialized "Self Defence Manual" for girls and women.

The manuals will include all best practices from different martial arts - kungfu, taewondo, karate, boxing, shaolin temples self defence skills with simplest illustrations and lucid language.
