Dimapur, September 01, 2014: NSCN-IM has advised the Sanjay Hazarika-headed Centre for North East Studies and Policy Research to be more rationale in choosing resource persons when they come to speaking on Naga peace process.

The Naga outfit is irked by the study centre's choice of a retired IAS officer from Nagaland to speak on the Naga peace process.

NSCN-IM said today that it came to know from a confirmed source that the Centre for North East Studies and Policy Research headed by Sanjay Hazarika is organizing a two-day meet in Delhi at the University of Jamia Millia Islamia on September 5 .

According to a press communique from the outfit's Ministry of Information and Publicity (MIP), it is aware that one of the topics 'Peace Process and Taxation' is to be discussed by one Mr. Khekiye, a retired IAS official from Nagaland.

The Naga outfit then said, "While the Centre for North East Studies and Policy Research enjoys the liberty to select a resource person from Nagaland, this Ministry of Information and Publicity (MIP) is equally concerned for guarding the paucity and seriousness of the peace process in the search for lasting, honourable resolution to the unresolved political case between the Union of India and the Naga people.

Therefore, selection of resource person who is totally unrelated to the peace process when a matter of such magnitude of seriousness is involved, the question of who to represent the truth on Indo-Naga case becomes a big concern" .

The outfit said it is bereft of any ill intent towards Mr.Khekiye. Nevertheless, to discourse on an issue, the former is not a part of, draws our attention, it added.

"We are aware of the eventualities when the truth involved in the search for political justice along the course of the current peace process if the seriousness is misrepresented.

Hence, in the future, Centre for North East Studies and Policy Research is advised to be more rationale while identifying individual or organisation in the discourse of Indo-Naga political imbroglio," the NSCN-IM press communique stated.
