New Delhi, September 9, 2014: A day after a Manipuri woman was stabbed by two men in Dwarka, police claimed to have solved the case with the arrest of a 31-year-old man. Police said the arrested man, Rohit Francis, attacked Silvia Vaiphei as he blamed her for getting him sacked from a job a year ago.
According to police, Francis worked as a driver in a Gurgaon-based construction company, where Silvia was a consultant.
Francis allegedly told police he held a grudge against her for getting him sacked from the company. Police said in July last year, Silvia found out that Francis was presenting fake bills and getting the amount reimbursed. “Silvia informed the authorities about this and Francis was forced to leave the company,” Addl Deputy Commissioner of Police (Southwest) Chinmoy Biswal said.
Some months ago, Silvia had quit her job. But Francis allegedly came to see her and threatened her with dire consequences unless she got him a new new job. Police said Francis had gone to see Silvia twice in the past one year.
On Monday, around 8.30 pm, when Silvia was returning home from Dwarka Sector-22 market, two men stabbed her repeatedly in the neck and legs, leaving her unconscious.
The two assailants fled the spot and she was rushed to Artemis hospital by passersby. Police said her condition is stable at present and a hunt is on to nab the other assailant.
