Imphal, September 10, 2014: Chief Minister Okram Ibobi today visited the injured police commando personnel, who were injured in an ambush at Shangkai village in Ukhrul district yesterday.

Kapminlian Mangsuan (29) s/o Haokholam of Tuibuang, Churachandpur district is currently undergoing treatment at JNIMS hospital and Khumukcham Amuthoi (33) s/o Achouba of Kakching Khunou at RIMS hospital.

The Chief Minister was accompanied by Deputy Chief Minister Gaikhangam, Health Minister Phungzathang Tonsing, Works Minister Kh Ratankumar, DGP Shahid Ahmad and other high ranking police officers.

During his visit, O Ibobi extended monetary help to the families of the two commando personnel.

Speaking to reporters at JNIMS hospital, the Chief Minister condemned the ambushes laid at Shangkai and Nungshangkong in Ukhrul district, in which one commando personnel was killed and two others injured.

The Chief Minister said that the State Government has not taken any decision to fully withdraw State security forces from Ukhrul.

However, the number of security personnel deployed in the town has been reduced to cater to security needs on National Highways for safe shipment of essential commodities in view of the ongoing UNC sponsored bandh.

Saying that additional security forces would be lifted from Ukhrul only when situation returns to normalcy and peace prevails, Ibobi said that the Government is closely monitoring the situation at Ukhrul district.

On the other hand, during his visit to RIMS hospital, RIMS Superintendent Professor Amuba told the Chief Minister that Amuthoi’s condition is now stable and out of danger.

He was shifted from JNIMS hospital to RIMS last night.

A team of surgery, ortho, cardio-vascular and thoracic doctors were kept ready in advance sensing Amuthoi’s possible referral to the hospital, Professor Amuba said.

As Amuthoi sustained multiple injuries in intestinal colon and thigh bone, he was operated soon after he was shifted to the hospital, Professor Amuba said.

He added that more than 20 units of blood have been administered to the commando personnel so far.

During his visit to JNIMS complex, the Chief Minister inspected different construction works.
