New Delhi, September 11, 2014: President Pranab Mukherjee on Thursday accepted the resignation of V.K. Duggal as the governor of Manipur and Mizoram. A Rashtrapati Bhavan press communique said: "The president has accepted the resignation of Vinod Kumar Duggal, as governor of Manipur and Mizoram."

"The president has been pleased to appoint Krishan Kant Paul, governor of Meghalaya to discharge the functions of the governor of Manipur and the governor of Mizoram, in addition to his own duties, until regular arrangements for the office of the governor of Manipur and Mizoram are made," the communique said.

Duggal had resigned Aug 28, becoming the ninth governor to do so since the NDA government assumed office in May.
Meghalaya Guv given addl charge of Manipur, Mizoram

Meghalaya Governor K K Paul was today given the additional charge of Manipur and Mizoram following the resignation of V K Duggal.

President Pranab Mukherjee, according to a Rashtrapati Bhavan spokesperson, has accepted the resignation of Duggal from the post of Governor of Manipur and Mizoram. He was holding the Mizoram charge in an additional capacity.

"The President has been pleased to appoint Dr Krishan Kant Paul, Governor of Meghalaya, to discharge the functions of the Governor of Manipur and the Governor of Mizoram in addition to his own duties until regular arrangements for the office of the Governor of Manipur and Governor of Mizoram are made," the spokesperson said.
