Imphal, October 21, 2014 (NNN): The indefinite blockade call by Muan Tombing-led All Tribal Students' Union Manipur (ATSUM) on all the National Highways connecting Manipur was suspended today after the Manipur government formally invited the union for talks that could end the impasse.

The ATSUM obstructed vehicular movement on the highways and banned all national projects in the hill areas of Manipur since past midnight to put pressure on the State government which the union has blamed for disregarding its long-pending demands.

Earlier, the ATSUM had suspended its sustained stir tagged as 'Reckoning of the Other' (ROTO) after an agreement was reached between the Manipur government and the union to implement all demands raised by the latter.

“Our strike has been suspended from 3:30 pm today after the Manipur government this afternoon invited the union for talks to end the deadlock,” ATSUM president Muan Tombing told a press conference here.
